Francis Noronha is a noted Malayalam writer whose work spans fiction and memoir, rooted in the landscapes and lived experiences of coastal Kerala. Originally from Alappuzha and he holds a degree in Commerce and has published five novels, three short story collections, and a memoir.

His acclaimed short story Thottappan was adapted into a feature film, bringing his writing to a wider audience. The collection Thottappan also earned him the prestigious Chembil John Award, the Sahid Smaraka Sahityateeram Award (2018), and the T.V. Kochubava Award (2019). He voluntarily retired from government service in March 2023 to devote more time to writing.

Francis’s major works include the story collections Thottappan, Kathusuthram, and Kaanipaniyunna Kasera (DC Books); the novels Asharanarude Suvishesham, Manjapusthakam, Mudiyarakal, and Avalakam (DC Books); Masterpiece (Mathrubhumi Books); and his memoir Mundan Parunki (Manorama Books). He lives with his wife Mary Dourave and their daughter Varsha Maria Noronha, who is pursuing her LL.B.
